Promoting discipline, creativity, and passion, pedagogue and pianist Alejandro Matamoros brings the ring to the piano. Mr. Matamoros is currently studying his masters degree in Cal State Fullerton. He can be found in the practice rooms most days refining his craft, striving for an engaging, passionate performance. This practice allows him to engage with his community, playing small gatherings, teaching classes, and filling in for his peers in classes and projects.Alejandro has always felt his American birth and Mexican heritage have given him opportunities and a special flavor to his work. He takes joy in exposing lesser-known Latin works in performance and class. You can see many of these performances on his YouTube channel under the same name. Performing pianist and pedagogue Alejandro Matamoros Rios is a masters piano performance student currently located in Fullerton, California. Studying under Dr. Rob Watson at California State University Fullerton (CSUF), other notable teachers include:
Dr. Dena Kay Jones, Dr. Jieun Newland, Guillermo De la Garza, Dr. Esquivel Meza,
Carlos Barba, Enrique Ponce and Dr. Laura Spitzer.Prior to moving to Fullerton, Alejandro Studied and performed around the El Paso and Las Cruces area. He has experience in church services, working both as a
choir accompanist and wedding pianist. He enjoys adapting to different kinds of jobs and goes above and beyond what is expected of his work.Alongside his performance work, Alejandro has led a small studio of a handful of students. He has previously taught all ages from K-12. His teaching philosophy is one of developing music appreciation, adaptability, and technical excellence.
